Programs Help Young Entrepreneurs Get Started in Business
(NC) If you are a young Ontarian with a business idea, why not take advantage of the current opportunities to get it off the ground? Today, more and more business owners are under 30 – and while the definition for a young entrepreneur varies, the age range is generally from 15 to 39 years old.
No matter whether you are developing a business plan, seeking guidance and mentorship, or getting ready to start a marketing campaign, there are programs to support you every step of the way, including:
• Mentorship and coaching programs,
• Marketing workshops,
• Business plan writing seminars.
Futurpreneur Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to young business people – and its website, futurepreneur.ca, offers a wealth of information on becoming your own boss. Mentors in the organization provide business advice, as well as support and encouragement to help you remain focused on what is important for the success of your business.
As you begin, check with the provincial registrar about whether there is an age limit to start a business in Ontario. There may be some business functions that require you to be 18 years or older such as signing contracts, entering into leases, and more.
Take a look at this encouragement and support from other young entrepreneurs:
• Lose your jitters and have confidence in your business idea;
• Start learning how to network – you will need it;
• Remember that working for yourself is very different than working for others;
• Be passionate;
• Strike while the iron is hot.
As well, be sure to manage your expectations. While success may appear to arrive overnight in some cases, the reality is that it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice to achieve solid results. A combination of energy, excitement and skills can propel you towards entrepreneurship, but careful planning will help you to get there.
