Lightfoot’s tour marks his fifth decade on the road. The 75-year-old debuted his first album, Lightfoot! in 1966. He hit Top 10 on the music charts for the first time in 1971 with If You Could Read My Mind. His first North American No. 1 hit, Sundown, was released in 1974.
His most recent Ottawa sojourn was at the Ottawa Folk Festival — Lightfoot helped “fill in” when Neil Young cancelled just a couple of weeks before the festival.
Here are a couple of classic videos of Lightfoot performing two of his greatest hits.
