‘Ottawa’ Meet Jordan McIntosh, Canada’s New Country Heartthrob
Although he’s not the type to wear a cowboy hat and may be more influenced by Mariah Carey than Merle Haggard, Carleton Place singer Jordan McIntosh is considered one of Canada’s brightest new country stars.
A tall, lanky 20-year-old with a strikingly robust voice, McIntosh released Steal Your Heart, his long-awaited debut album, last month. To his delight, it soared to the top of the Canadian country charts.
“I remember watching the charts the day it came out, and as soon as it got to the No. 1 spot, a huge weight got lifted. It was like a sigh of relief — people care,” he said in an interview.
This is the guy who first made it to fans’ radar in 2013 with Grew Up in a Country Song, a catchy tune co-written in Nashville, but inspired by a childhood in rural Eastern Ontario.
