Vanier taco hotspot Ola Cocina to take over ZaZaZa in Hintonburg
Ola Cocina, a tiny Vanier shop with a loyal following for its designer tacos, will see this spring if it can make go with a second, much larger location in Hintonburg.
“I am thrilled to be joining forces with the best restaurateur Ion Aimers and have Ola Cocina grow up … We will be opening a second location in early May. HINTONBURG!!” Ola Cocina owner Donna Chevrier posted on Facebook Sunday.
Chevrier’s second location is to open at 1079 Wellington St. W., now the home of Aimers’s remaining ZaZaZa pizza eatery. Aimers is a partner in more than a half-dozen diverse and well-regarded restaurants and food businesses in the Ottawa area, including the Pomeroy House and The Rowan in the Glebe, Wilf & Ada’s in Centretown and Fraser Café and the Muckleston & Brockwell butchery in New Edinburgh.
Aimers previously founded the chain of Works gourmet burger eateries in Ottawa, which he sold to an Oakville company. He followed the Works with several ZaZaZa locations before he began partnering with the chefs in the Glebe and Centretown businesses.
