Great Ottawa Restaurants
Ottawa has a very vibrant culinary community with a multitude of restaurant options. Here’s a short list of just a few of the great restaurant options in Ottawa.
Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu
Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu offers an exceptional cuisine, a unique setting and luxurious hospitality for your next culinary experience. More than just a bistro, Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu brings a modern twist to a fine dining experience. Combining modern cuisine with relaxing decor and a stress-free ambience, Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu can be your oasis. Play Food & Wine
Play Food & Wine (a sister location to the famed Beckta Dining & Wine) focuses on small plates with big flavour in a casual dining environment. Housed in a historic building across the street from the U.S. Embassy in the ByWard Market neighbourhood, Play offer two floors of dining. Foodies will enjoy sitting at the kitchen bar overlooking the prep area, while everyone can enjoy the carefully crafted wine list and inventive, even playful, creations on the menu.
Murray Street Kitchen Wine Charcuterie
Owner-Chef Steve Mitton of Murray Street Kitchen Wine Charcuterie restaurant supports the snout-to-tail philosophy of cooking and focuses on the use of fresh regional and seasonal ingredients. A member of Savour Ottawa (an initiative to promote relations between local farmers and chefs), Murray Street heartily embraces local products – from the meats to the cheeses to the vegetables, even to the music playing in the background. The menu is small but that’s a blessing when everything is this good! With a group? Share a charcuterie board, you won’t regret it!
Le Cafe
Discover the true flavours of Canada with a global twist offered by our award-winning National Arts Centre Executive Chef John Morris. Tempt your senses at le Café with exciting, inventive and playful dishes featuring fresh, regional and international ingredients celebrating Canada’s increasing diversity. Experience a perfect pairing from our eclectic wine list crafted by John Szabo, Canada’s only Master Sommelier.
Atelier
Atelier, located near Ottawa’s Little Italy, presents a multi-course tasting menu each evening using only the freshest ingredients prepared in ways you’ve never seen before. Innovative chef / owner Marc Lépine uses a solar oven, liquid nitrogen, an “anti-griddle” and other contraptions that will make you smile as you enjoy your 12-course tasting menu. It’s part theatre, part magic and all delicious! Marc was crowned 2012 Canadian Culinary Champion at the Canadian Culinary Championships held in Kelowna, B.C. in mid-February. What’s even more impressive is that 25 of Ottawa’s best chefs supported Marc by holding a “Takeover Weekend” while he was away so that Marc didn’t have to close down on one of the busiest weekends of the year. The chefs volunteered their time (and some ingredients) to present a multi-course meal on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night when Marc competed.
Restaurant e18hteen
Restaurant e18hteen offers fine dining in a sumptuous atmosphere. Sample delights from modern French cuisine carefully prepared using local ingredients by Chef Jonathan Korecki and his team while admiring the edge artwork and modern décor that offset the 19th century stone walls. Craving a cocktail? This is the place to indulge! While much is local, this is also a great place for perfectly prepared (and sustainable) seafood.
