Blue Jays whip Orioles ahead of crucial 10-game road trip
As the days dwindle down and the stakes get higher, the Blue Jays have clearly taken care of business in the friendly confines at home. They finished off a 7-2 home stand Sunday with a thorough 10-4 whipping of the Baltimore Orioles. Now they’re off to fly the unfriendly skies for their next 10-game test in Boston, New York and Atlanta.
The four-game set next weekend at Yankee Stadium is the centrepiece of the trip and can safely be called their most important visit to New York since they went in there and won three of four on their way to the 1985 AL East championship.
The Yankees continued to stay in lockstep with Toronto, coming from behind to beat Chris Archer and the Rays 6-4 Sunday, to remain 1.5 games back with 26 games to play in the race for the American League East title.
This was Toronto’s fourth win in five starts in September. Since the All-Star break, they are 33-12 and with Troy Tulowitzki in uniform since July 28, they are 28-7.
