Ottawa United church working to sponsor Syrian family of 6
Ottawa’s Parkdale United Church is trying to sponsor a Syrian family of six, who are in a refugee camp in Jordan. The church has been trying to bring the family to Canada for more than a year and have raised more than $11,000. The church’s goal is to raise $30,000, as the sponsors need to be able to support the family financially for the full sponsorship period, which is usually one year. Rev. Anthony Bailey of Parkdale United Church shared the church’s story with the Sun’s Julienne Bay.
Who is this family you’re sponsoring?
It’s a family of 6 who are from Syria and they’re in a refugee camp in Jordan. The husband is an engineer and his wife is a lawyer.
