Sexual assault suspect sought after south Ottawa attack
Ottawa police are looking for a young man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a 16-year-old girl in the city’s south end last week.
Police say the teenage girl was walking along McCarthy Road near Twyford Street around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, when a man came from behind her and grabbed her by the hair.
The girl alleged the man tried to sexually assault her, struck her before running away.
The suspect is described as a man between 20 and 25 years old with black scruffy hair, thin, with a medium complexion that police say could possibly be “of Middle Eastern descent.”
The victim also said the man stood in the area of six to six feet two inches tall and he was wearing a Barcelona soccer jersey with a white collar and dark pants.
