Public sector union dismisses Harper’s possible niqab ban
One of several public sector unions is dismissing Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s suggestion he’ll look into barring public servants from wearing the niqab and burka while at work.
“Sorry Mr. Harper, we’re too busy sending critical public services to Canadians to be distracted,” said Debi Daviau, president of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC). This election is too important to us. It’s not our issue and it’s not going to be.”
