Public servants who wear niqabs don’t exist
Muslim women in the federal public service who wear burkas or niqabs are like unicorns, says the head of a national Muslim organization. They don’t exist.
Canadians are talking about Stephen Harper’s controversial proposal to ban public servants from wearing burkas or niqabs, but National Council of Canadian Muslims director Ihsaan Gardee said his organization is not aware of any who actually wear the religious face coverings worn by some Muslim women who interpret it as a requirement of their faith.
