Incomplete vaccination records will prompt school suspensions
Ottawa Public Health will pursue school suspensions after being unable to verify thousands of student immunization records by the end of September.
A report published Friday says 50,000 records are still not up to date. The health unit expected to have the 63,000 records up to date by late September, but there was simply too much work.
According to the report, it “validates the need for progressive enforcement as a final measure to ensure the most complete data on local immunization status.”
There are a total of 150,000 immunization records of school-aged children that need verifying, but the 63,000 have needed the most attention because they lacked information.
