Hoverboard salesman gets back stolen ride
Marty McFly, eat your heart out.
A Carleton student who was robbed of two “hoverboards” has balanced the scales of justice with a little help from social media.
Tobi Oluwole, a fourth-year business student at Carleton University, was tackled and robbed at knife point of two self-balancing electric scooters a couple of weeks ago.
Ten days later, he recovered one after a friend who had see his Facebook post urging others to keep an eye out for the bright green board and a “guy in dreads” spotted it.
More than 350 people had liked the post and it was shared between his 2,000 Facebook friends, Oluwole told the Sun.
“The power of social media is actually unbelievable,” he said. “If I hadn’t put up that post, nobody would’ve been looking for it.”
Oluwole started his own business selling hoverboards in August, after setting up an online shop, where they fetch about $700 each.
