‘Peanuts’: Education minister downplays union aid
Paying expenses such as pizza to appease inconvenienced teachers unions is just “peanuts,” Education Minister Liz Sandals says.
Speaking to reporters at Holy Family Catholic School in Ottawa on Friday, the minister defended the recently leaked details of contract negotiations between the Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers Federation, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and a smaller french teachers’ union.
The grand sum of taxpayer-funded reimbursements to these organizations is $2.5 million, as first reported by the Globe and Mail.
