‘Ottawa’ Prince Harry Bares His Soul in Toronto Visit
That was one searingly poignant speech Prince Harry gave Monday, as he took Toronto by storm to launch next year’s Invictus Games in this city. He bared his feelings about what it means to be a soldier, a comrade, a human being. And what it means to be a member of the Royal Family serving in Afghanistan — and being outed by the media and forced to leave his men against his will. In 2008, Harry was serving in the British army on the front lines in Afghanistan. When word leaked that he was there, he was forced to leave. Staying would put his soldiers at greater risk. “It was a decision over which I had no control but the guilt at having to leave my guys behind was something I was going to have to swallow,” he said.
