‘Ottawa’ Man in Russell Seriously Injured by Chainsaw
Bystanders helped save a man who sliced his arm with a chainsaw in Russell, Ont., Sunday afternoon, Ottawa paramedics said.
The 46-year-old suffered a deep cut to his forearm with severe bleeding around 1 p.m., paramedics said in a news release.
People nearby came to the rescue, putting pressure and dressings on the wound, which paramedics said made a “significant difference” in limiting the amount of blood he lost.
His bleeding was almost controlled by the time paramedics arrived.
He was in serious but stable condition when he arrived at the hospital in Ottawa.
Russell is just east of the City of Ottawa, but Ottawa paramedics will respond to calls there when they’re the closest ambulance.
