‘Ottawa’ Off-duty paramedic finds crash victim on roadside
An off-duty paramedic travelling home after her night shift found a young man lying on the ground after a single-vehicle crash early Monday on Carp Road, the emergency service said.
The 24-year-old man, who had been ejected from his vehicle during a violent rollover just after 5 a.m. at the corner of Carp and Hazeldean roads in Stittsville, was unconscious when the paramedic began to care for him.
Paramedics said he suffered multi-system trauma and a possible spinal injury. They said he was unable to feel his legs. He was taken to hospital by ambulance in serious condition.
Police did not identify the man or whether he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
They also did not say if charges would be laid.
Carp Roadwas closed between Hazeldean and Laumann Court for about two hours.
