‘Ottawa’ Gill Murder Trial: Crown Witness Lying, Lawyer Alleges
The defence lawyer for an OC Transpo driver on trial in the killing of his wife attacked the credibility of a Crown witness on Monday, branding him a liar for testifying that the accused told his daughter not to tell police about the time he hit his wife.
“I’m going to suggest that you lied,” James Harbic charged. “I’m going to suggest that you, sir, made that up.”
“I’m suggesting I didn’t,” Scott Fewer, the witness, replied.
OC Transpo drivers and secret lovers Bhupinderpal Gill and Gurpreet Ronald are on trial, accused of the Jan. 29, 2014, killing of Jagtar Gill, 43.
She was slashed and bludgeoned to death in her Barrhaven home on her 17th wedding anniversary.
Gill family friend Scott Fewer was called to testify about some of his key conversations with the accused killers.
He testified that hours after the killing Gill told him that he washed the bloody knives used to kill his wife because he was worried his fingerprints were on them.
