‘Ottawa’ Apartment Blaze Quickly Brought Under Control
Firefighters quickly doused a fire that broke out on the 10th floor of an apartment complex at 2450 Southvale Cres. in the Elmvale Acres neighbourhood on Wednesday night.
Residents reported smoke in the hallways shortly after 9 p.m., and fire crews arrived to see smoke coming from a unit on the 10th floor. A working fire was declared at 9:18 p.m. and was knocked down within minutes, according to fire officials.
The fire was under control by 9:30 p.m.
The lone occupant of the apartment made it to safety, and no injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation, and no damage estimates were immediately available.
