Mayor Jim Watson, in a pointed letter that bolsters his support for Chief Charles Bordeleau, accuses the president of the police union of eroding people’s confidence in officers.
“I am concerned that your actions – the constant undermining of the Chair of the Board of OPS and of the Chief of Police in the public sphere – will play a role in undermining the confidence which our residents have in all Ottawa Police Service officers,” Watson writes in the letter to Matt Skof, obtained by Postmedia.
Watson sent the letter Thursday after another officer, this time in the senior ranks, flagged low morale in the police force.
The senior officer’s comments came on the heels of Bordeleau issuing a decision to waive any investigation into misconduct allegations against the officer in charge
