An 81-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a collision with a Gatineau police cruiser responding to a report of a man who placed a gun inside his vehicle on Thursday evening.
Gatineau police said they received the gun call around 3:10 p.m. and police intercepted the suspect vehicle near Boulevard Allumettières and Boulevard St-Raymond.
But one patrol car responding was involved in a side-impact at the corner of Boulevard Allumettières and Chemin Vanier.
An 81-year-old man in the other vehicle was injured and taken by ambulance to the Hull Hospital. The police officer was uninjured.
The reported gun turned out to be an air pistol. Meanwhile, the suspected gun turned out to be an air pistol, the man who had was co-operative, and police said no criminal act had been committed.
The Forensic Identification Service remained at the scene of the collision and the intersection was expected to remain closed until late Thursday evening.
