‘Ottawa’ Family Upset Missing Dog was Adopted Out
Michelle Daniels says she’s prepared to drag the Toronto Humane Society through the courts as she tries to get her dog back.
Two months ago, Kimbo went missing from the family home and ended up at THS, where the canine was adopted out to a new owner.
“I was hoping things would have been easier and I wouldn’t have to go through this,” Daniels said. “I don’t have the money for this, but I think I can get help from family and friends.”
One of the closest relationships in her family is between Kimbo and Karl, her 80-year-old father, who was diagnosed with dementia four years ago. When a personal service worker comes to the house, the canine acts as a guard dog for him.
THS executive director Barbara Steinhoff said while she feels badly for the Daniels family, her hands are tied as the adoption was completed on Sept. 17.
