‘Ottawa’ Capital Facts: Ottawa’s ‘Golden Age’ of Football
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.
The 1960s were considered Ottawa’s “golden age” of football. Throughout the decade, the Ottawa Rough Riders won three Grey Cups — in 1960, 1968, and 1969 — which played a large part in bringing the community together after the Second World War.
