‘Ottawa’ Man Dies After ATV falls through ice on Buck Lake
A 61-year-old man was pulled lifeless from a lake about 20 kilometres south of Westport after his all-terrain vehicle fell through the ice Saturday.
Daniel Green, of South Frontenac Township, died as he attempted to cross a narrow section of Buck Lake that features a substantial current. Frontenac OPP say they were called at about 10:45 a.m. after Green failed to arrive at an arranged meeting point on the lake.
A friend began searching along the shoreline for Green and discovered the partially submerged ATV and a helmet. A fire and rescue crew found his body in the water a short distance away.
Foul play is not suspected.
