‘Ottawa’ Ottawa’s Grant McSheffrey is on a Jeopardy Winning Streak
An Ottawa software developer is making a name for himself on Jeopardy, with two wins in a row.
He’ll go for number three on Thursday.
In his first win on Tuesday, Grant McSheffrey, a QNX software developer, entered Final Jeopardy in a very close match (only $3,000 separating the three contestants), but got the correct answer to the clue: “This is the most populous city on the world’s most populous island; both begin with the same letter.”
(Do you know it? You’ll see the answer in the images below…)
He was pretty excited when he won
Then he pulled off a second win on Wednesday, though this time it was a runaway victory. By Final Jeopardy, he was ahead of his nearest competitor by more than $16,000.
Wednesday night’s final clue: “This city’s international airport is named for Antonio Carlos Jobim, who co-wrote a 1964 hit song.”
McSheffrey correctly named the city (we won’t give it away!), taking in $30,000 on the night and bringing his two-day total to $53,400.
Ottawa’s had a few contestants show up on Jeopardy since Canadians were allowed back on the show again, including Matt Kellison in February and Ryan Mill last fall. But McSheffrey’s the first one to make repeat appearances.
In fact, McSheffrey’s win marked the first time a Canadian returned as the champion since May 2015, according to this fan site.
What do you think? Will he make it three in a row?
