‘Ottawa’ Freezing Rain, Rain and then More Rain. Happy Monday!
It’s a mess out there.
Walkways, sidewalks and smaller streets are just slippery enough to slow things down this morning.
A freezing rain warning (maybe this winter’s last?) is in effect.
The good news is that the freezing rain wasn’t quite as bad as some expected. Rain, lots of it, will soon wash a lot of the leftover snow and ice away.
Today’s high is expected to get up to about 5 C.
School buses were cancelled in the Renfrew public and separate school boards and in the Pembroke area schools at the French public board, the Conseil des Écoles Publiques de l’Est d l’Ontario.
The wet weather will take a bit of a break this afternoon but come back as drizzle in the evening. Fog patches are also expected so take it slow on the drive home.
Tonight and Tuesday will see more rain, with a high of 8 C on Tuesday.
The rest of the week will be a mixed bag: Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny with highs of 6 to 7 C, but – and this is a big but – Friday could see a substantial downpour mixed with a few cm of the white stuff.
The weekend, however, looks beautiful.
