Who will wear A’s for the Ottawa Senators
It’s possible, albeit unlikely, Senators captain Erik Karlsson could have a new full-time assistant or two this season.
When Dave Cameron was asked Monday morning which players would wear an ‘A’, he said he would make the announcement before camp is over. That opened the door to speculation Chris Phillips, who will miss at least the start of the season recovering from a back injury, and/or Chris Neil could be asked to relinquish their letter — or offer to give it to one of the younger players on the team the way Denis Potvin, for his last season with the Islanders, recognized a changing of the guard by handing his ‘C’ to Brent Sutter.
Both Phillips and Neil are entering the last season of their contracts in Ottawa, and it’s not known whether either of them will be offered another deal.
