Ottawa RedBlacks look for special help
The Ottawa RedBlacks don’t necessarily need their special teams to be that special; but something a few notches above mediocre would certainly be welcome.
What happened out on the TD Place field Saturday against the Toronto Argos was again unacceptable — an 87-yard punt return for a touchdown by Chad Owens was a backbreaker. And, trying to keep the ball away from Owens, punter Brett Maher averaged just 40.6 yards per kick, twice taking penalties for booting the ball out of bounds on the fly. Oh, and Chris Milo missed a convert. Certainly it was more than special teams at fault, but the RedBlacks paid the price in their 35-26 loss to Toronto.
