Many reasons to watch Presidents Cup in South Korea
Every two years the Ryder Cup takes the golf world by storm, igniting passion in players and fans who for three days wonder if the cutthroat team competition is actually bigger than a major.
Every other year we get the Presidents Cup.
If the Ryder Cup is the Oscars then this week’s America vs. Internationals is the Golden Globes. But that’s not bad because the Golden Globes are great and all the stars get drunk. Unfortunately for the Presidents Cup, the Ryder Cup outdrinks them too.
Damn Europeans.
For Canadians, the Presidents Cup usually means cheering on one of our own. Mike Weir played on five consecutive teams beginning in 2000 and Graham DeLaet made the International Team last time out. In 2007, the tournament came to Montreal.
This year there are no Canadians and the teams are playing at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in South Korea. So are we going to watch this year?
