Edmonton Oilers goalie Cam Talbot showing strong despite two losses
DALLAS — The Edmonton Oilers are 0-2, but in both games Cam Talbot had his guy.
While the Oilers wait for a few other elements of their game to come together — elements like offence and defence — they haven’t had to worry about goaltending.
Talbot has been their best player through the first two games of the season, stopping 52 of 56 shots and giving them a chance to win in both St. Louis and Nashville.
They didn’t win either (offence and defence, remember), but it’s starting to look like they’re not going to lose many because of their new keeper.
“He’s been unreal. You can’t ask much more of him,” said Oilers defenceman Justin Schultz, adding it make a big difference knowing you have somebody in net you can count on.
“You know that you have a guy back there who’s always going to bail you out. He’s kept us in games. We need to help him out and start scoring.”
It’s hard to win many when you don’t score any, and so far the only goal the Oilers have
