Senators, Wikstrand continue stalemate
Time to sit and ponder his future has not changed Mikael Wikstrand’s stance.
And Bryan Murray is still not willing to budge.
The Senators’ GM said he heard from Wikstrand’s camp on the weekend in the form of another request that the defenceman be permitted to stay home and play hockey in Sweden.
Wanting the signed prospect to develop his game in North America, Murray replied no. Again.
“Same answer,” Murray told members of the media at Canadian Tire Centre Tuesday. “I got a text from Mikael yesterday afternoon. I haven’t answered him yet, I will today. He would like to stay home. He can stay home but he can’t play hockey, and he wants to play over there.
“We have to take a stand here at this time. If it changes later on, it changes later on. But that’s not the message I’m sending to him.”
