With contract expiring, Alex Anthopoulos says he evolved as Blue Jays GM
In his annual post-season, post-mortem Monday morning, Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos bobbed and weaved better than Floyd Patterson in his prime.
The question that was on everyone’s mind and asked repeatedly was whether he was returning in 2016 what with his contract coming to an end Oct. 31.
In his various replies, Anthopoulos was as clear as a dense London fog other than to say he loves Toronto and he’d love to be back, but we’ll all have to wait and see how discussions go with incoming president Mark Shapiro.
Anthopoulos viewed the season as a tremendous success despite the fact the Jays lost out to the Kansas City Royals in six games in the American League Championship Series.
“We all had a blast, it was fun, we wished we could have pulled out Game Six,” Anthopoulos said of the season. “I think we put Toronto back on the map and the sport in Canada back on the map.”
