‘Ottawa’ Ottawa Redblacks linebacker Antoine Pruneau could lose starting job
Antoine Pruneau had nowhere to hide last Friday. Bull-like receiver Nik Lewis easily shrugged off attempted tackles by the linebacker to score one touchdown and set up another as the Montreal Alouettes pounded the Ottawa Redblacks 43-19.
Now it sounds as if the Redblacks have decided to shuffle their defence for Thursday’s home game against the B.C. Lions and Pruneau is being shuffled out of the starting lineup.
“I think I’ve realized I can do more during practice and during games. I just have to give more effort and find a way to be back on the roster,” Pruneau said Tuesday.
Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell wasn’t ready to throw Pruneau overboard, though, saying the 26-year-old Montrealer and the fourth-overall pick in the 2014 Canadian Football League college draft would still play a big role on special teams and would likely still be part of a defensive rotation.
