‘Ottawa’ Ottawa Redblacks Inconsistent Through First Half of Season
The thing about watching the Ottawa Redblacks during the first half of the 2016 regular season is that they’ve flashed undeniable skill, but have also left the Canadian Football League community wanting much more.
Thursday’s 29-23 loss to the B.C. Lions was the third in five home games this year, or one more defeat at TD Place stadium than the Redblacks had in all of 2015. That’s a negative.
The Redblacks have also dropped four of their past five games overall, sliding to 4-4-1. That’s also a negative, although they remain in the thick of the CFL’s East Division pack.
There have been positives. The offence, when it can stay on the field, has produced big plays and points. The pass rush and special teams have displayed improvement recently, although they remain susceptible to occasional big plays by opponents.
One thing still in ample supply is self-confidence.
