Ottawa gators find new homes
Paul Goulet is happy 17 alligators he fostered at his Ottawa rescue centre have found new homes, but he has to admit — he misses them.
And the owner of Little Ray’s Reptiles is already planning a trip to visit them next year.
“It’s not like he (an alligator) would miss me or anything … but he’ll know my voice and he’ll come out of the water,” Goulet said. “He responds to commands and he’ll do it, just like he saw me yesterday.”
Two of the gators were adopted by the Phoenix Herpetological Society in Arizona, and 15 by Alligator Adventure, a reptile facility in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Alligators that have lived in captivity can never live in the wild, Goulet said, and the large facilities in the U.S. would be almost like putting them back out into the wild, but with vet care and better nutrition.
