Niqab debate: 2 Ontario voters say decision finalized by Conservative stance
Two voters in Ontario have been moved to one side or the other due to the debate over the niqab, they told CBC Radio’s Ontario Today on Monday.
The niqab, a face cover worn by some Muslim women, has become a hot-button issue pushed by the Conservatives during this election campaign.

The party wants anyone who wears a niqab to remove it during a citizenship ceremony. The current law allows a new Canadian to wear the niqab at the ceremony, but remove it privately in front of a citizenship official.
There’s an attitude among some who feel this debate is “just a way to gain votes” ahead of the Oct. 19 election.
For two voters who called in to CBC Radio’s Ontario Today on Monday, this debate has motivated them to vote in a certain direction.
One woman named Denise said she will vote Conservative, while the husband of a woman who wears a niqab said he would not vote Conservative.
