‘Ottawa’ NHLers Claude Giroux, Calvin de Haan Tee it up at Sun Scramble
Claude Giroux has put his hip surgery behind him and for a couple of days, the NHL star, who will play for Canada in next month’s World Cup of Hockey, is focused on golf.
The 28-year-old Philadelphia Flyers captain, who partnered with ClubEG president Jamie Ryan, has advanced to the final round of the Ottawa Sun Scramble’s GolfWorks A Division. The duo shot a four-under 68 at GreyHawk’s Talon course on Friday, winding up in a five-way tie for 11th place. Fifteen of the field’s competitors will play on Championship Sunday at Eagle Creek. A playoff wasn’t possible because of darkness and instead of using retrogression to break the tie, Sun Scramble organizers allowed all teams at the cut line to advance.
“It’s very disappointing for a team to lose out by regression when you’re expecting a playoff,” said tournament organizer Andy Rajhathy.
