‘Ottawa’ WestboroFUSE: New Fest on the Block

The Westboro BIA pulled the plug on Westfest last year, only to launch their own festival a few months later. The inaugural WestboroFUSE takes place June 10-12 along the same stretch of Richmond Road that housed Westfest for 12 years.
Again, the road will be closed to traffic between Golden and McRae avenues. “If the weather holds out and people get the message, we’ve put together an incredible program for the first year,” said Mary Thorne, executive director of the BIA. “We’ll make you smile and have a lot of fun.” Here are five highlights of the newest festival on the block. The Street Party main stage, to be set up in the parking lot at Avenues Garage, 319 Richmond Rd., kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with performances by Ottawa blues diva Bella Cat, the multi-faceted party band PepTides and the Montreal cover act, Rebound. Saturday’s lineup features Ottawa-born rockers the Riot Police
