You may not know it yet, but Poutine is the ultimate Canadian comfort food everyone craves. It would be hard to picture a Canadian dish with more global popularity than poutine. If you’re craving a taste of the savory poutine cake, then the Cake Shop in Ottawa is the place to find it.

If you aren’t from Canada or any one of its provinces, then this may very well be your first time of “hearing” about the delicacy that is Poutine. You may be wondering, what exactly is Poutine? Poutine is one of a kind Canadian invention that was created in Quebec. It is an awe-inspiring combination of French fries, cheese curds, and finally gravy.

Poutine is finally starting to spread its popularity throughout Canada and if you’re lucky enough, you may just come across a shop that sells poutine in the U.S.A.

Do you have a friend who loves eating poutine? Then this cake is the perfect birthday gift for such a friend. While the idea of poutine cake may sound rather unappealing and a little bit disgusting, there’s no reason to fear. The poutine cake from the Cake Shop Ottawa isn’t actually made of poutine; it only just looks like poutine.

These round cakes are decorated so exquisitely that it looks like a container of fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. The decorations are so realistic that only a true expert eye would be able to tell the difference.

This uniquely Canadian poutine cake comes in various sizes. You can get a 6”cake which serves 8- 10, a 9” cake that can serve 12 -14, and the 12” inch cake which serves 20 – 25. To get the 9” and 12” cake, you’ll need to place an order several days in advance. However, you can get the 6” every day when you walk into the Cake Shop Ottawa.

Nothing says Canada like poutine and it doesn’t get more Canadian than a poutine wedding cake. In 2015, a woman showed just how patriotic she could be by serving up a poutine wedding “cake” for her bachelorette party.

The Journal de Montreal reported that the impressive staff of Patate Mallette put the wonderful cheesy delicacy together after receiving a 12-person order specifically for the bachelorette party. The cooks, brilliant as they were, took the idea to a completely different level and created a tantalizing mountain of poutine. The planning alone for the “cake” took two days.

The completed dish contained over a liter of gravy, 10kg of fries, and 2.5kg of cheese. The restaurant posted a picture of the poutine “cake” on their Facebook page and a video on Twitter. The picture showed the chef adding the final touches of gravy next to a glowing and happy bride-to-be.

According to poutinewar.com, PatateMallette’s poutine is regarded as the second-best in Quebec. So if you’re thinking of getting a poutine cake, then PatateMallette as got you covered. If you’ll prefer a cake that looks like poutine but tastes like actual cake, then you should visit Cake Shop Ottawa.
