‘Terrifying thought’ for ex-Ottawa reporter

The on-air shooting of a TV reporter and cameraman in Virginia Wednesday opened the door to a “new way to be violent,” says Kimothy Walker, a former Ottawa TV reporter who was once nearly the victim of a gunman’s violence herself.
“Like everybody else in that business, I’m thinking of the door that has been left open to live TV violence,” Walker told the Sun on Wednesday.
Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, were killed when gunman Vester Flanagan, a disgruntled former employee at WDBJ TV in Roanoke, Va., opened fire while Parker was doing a live interview for the station’s morning show. Flanagan later shot himself.
