Ottawa police investigating attack on Blueline cab
Ottawa police are investigating after a video of a Blueline cab being attacked surfaced online Tuesday.
The video was filmed from inside a car and shows what appears to be three protesting cab drivers smash the back window of a cab on the Airport Pkwy.
Police released a statement asking the public’s help with the investigation and stated charges will be laid if warranted.
Abed Madi, president of the airport unit of Unifor Local 1688, said he hasn’t seen the video of the attack, but the union does not approve of violence.
“That’s not something we advocate for … but unfortunately, it happened,” he said. “If I’m able to identify the people, we’ll be talking to them.”
Madi added he didn’t know whether drivers will continue to block the main route into the Ottawa airport Wednesday.
Ottawa’s airport taxi drivers have been locked out since Aug. 11, in a labour dispute with the dispatch company.
