More stages possible for CityFolk in 2016, says Mark Monahan
CityFolk music festival organizers say next year’s edition could feature more venues, after some ticket holders complained they couldn’t access one main stage because of its limited capacity.
“Maybe there’s a possibility to add more venues. There’s always things that can be tweaked, and that’s something we’ll look at for next year,” Mark Monahan told All in a Day host Stu Mills on Monday, one day after the five-day rock and folk festival wrapped up.
New name, new location
Previously called the Ottawa Folk Festival, CityFolk got both a new name and a new home — Lansdowne Park, in the heart of the city’s downtown — for 2015.
There was frustration, however, about long lineups at the new site. One of the two main music venues, the Horticulture Building, had a limited capacity, forcing festivalgoers to queue up to get in.
