New video allegedly shows group attacking Ottawa taxi
An angry pack of disgruntled cabbies or supporters stopped a driver on Airport Pkwy. earlier this month and started beating the hood and windshield of the vehicle in a video released on YouTube.
Released Friday, the 18-second daschcam video starts with a man halting the driver before three more people can be seen running up to the car, waving flags bearing the name Unifor, the union representing Ottawa cabbies. Drivers who used to pick up passengers at the Ottawa Airport have been locked out over a dispute about dramatic increases in passenger pickup fees at the terminal.
Since the dispute, other drivers have stepped in and are now picking up the fares — and paying the increased fees. It has caused intense strife within cabbie ranks in the city.
