Police board criticizes police chief over taxi protest on parkway
Chief Charles Bordeleau received a rare public dressing-down Monday when the police services board questioned management’s handling of the taxi protests near the airport.
Former mayor Jim Durrell, vice-chair of the board, accused the police force of “allowing the tail to wag the dog” by letting protesting cabbies block the Airport Pkwy.
Durrell, calling some of the protesters “thugs,” said there was a “crisis in confidence” of the police force’s ability to manage the demonstration.
He suggested it was embarrassing for the city to have the parkway blocked.
