Cops bar mother from wounded son
A bullet in his brain, a young man who’ll be in trouble with the law if he ever wakes from a medically-induced coma was denied by Ottawa police the comfort of his family as he flirted with death.
Cops had barred Pierce James’s mother from “any access/contact with her son,” according to an application filed in court Wednesday.
That, at least, was how things stood until defence lawyers Joseph Addelman and Samantha Robinson dragged the cops to court Thursday, where a judge ordered police to grant James’s family access to his bedside.
James, 18, suffered a bullet wound in the head, according to an affidavit filed by his mother.
