Ottawa woman creates giant grumpy cat costume out of found materials

Ottawa’s Sissi Meng is an accountant by day and a creative artist by night.
With Halloween approaching she whipped up a cat costume made out of found materials, including cardboard boxes from Ikea.
In a few intense hours, Meng transformed a flat cardboard box into the biggest, grumpiest cat you’re likely to see this weekend in Ottawa.
“For my costumes, I love being able to take things that are originally intended for one purpose and use it in a way that other people did not expect. That way, I can start conversation and connection with people about my art and my material,” she told CBC News in an email.
She added that she would love to run her own “art attack channel” one day to help influence “kids and teens to do something with their hands with the things around them.”
Meng documented the entire process — see our photo gallery above.
