‘Ottawa’ Ottawa Jobless Rate at 7% in April, Fifth Monthly Rise
The capital region’s jobless rate jumped to seven per cent in April, from 6.8 per cent in March, according to data released by Statistics Canada on Friday.
There were a total of 712,100 people employed in Ottawa in April, down 300 from the 712,400 that were actively employed the month previous.
The labour force grew to 765,600 in April, an increase of 1,400 from March.
which includes those people who are seeking employment, grew by 1,400 – which added 1,700 people to the unemployment rolls.
