‘Ottawa’ Kevin Haime Kids to the Course Golf Classic Provides a Big Boost for Youngsters

On Tuesday, there’ll be lots of buzz at Eagle Creek Golf Club — front and centre will be LPGA star Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls and her sister Brittany.
Not lost in the shuffle will be the Kevin Haime Kids to the Course Golf Classic, an event which has provided 541 golf club memberships in its nine years, helping kids learn not only how to be good golfers, but how to be good citizens.
Eighteen-year-old Nick Brisebois, who has been in the program since he was 10, will attend Ivy League school Columbia next year after excelling with his golf (he was an alternate to get into final qualifying for the U.S. Open) and his brain (90s student at Holy Trinity and plans to go to medical school).
Take the tireless efforts from Haime and his wife Lisa, who own the Kevin Haime Golf Centre, great co-operation from local golf courses and add in fiercely loyal sponsors — like PING — and you’ve got a program which is making a difference.
