‘Ottawa’ Mathieu Trudel’s Body Found at Petrie Island, Police Say
The body of Mathieu Trudel, a 37-year-old illustrator from Ottawa who had been missing since March 2, was found at Petrie Island on Friday, police confirm.
The body was identified over the weekend after it was found Friday afternoon.
No foul play is suspected, Ottawa police said in a media release issued Monday.
Trudel was last seen on Vaudreuil Street in Gatineau, Que., on the evening of March 2. His family and friends said that while he did leave behind evidence of an intention to end his life, they were holding on to the possibility he would turn up alive.
A mass of hope was held on March 19.
He was found unconscious next to his bike on Montreal Road near Cummings Bridge, and no one had seen what happened. He had been commuting to work at the time.
