‘Ottawa’ Q&A: Behind the Scenes at Electric Tulip Fireworks
The Tulip Festival finale is going down Sunday night in an explosive mix of pyrotechnics and EDM.
We got behind the scenes with Marc Borenstein of Hands Fireworks, the company putting on the Electric Tulip Fireworks.
Borenstein, 39, has been with Hands Fireworks for the past six years. He got us up close and personal to find out about the passion it takes to put on a mind-blowing pyromusical.
What do you love about your job?
It’s a wonderful day outside, like today, with people we love and trust. It’s like an intensive golf game. We get to try new things and see crowd reactions. It’s got a rock star feel to it. I’ve done shows where I’ve had a 50,000-people crowd, and I’ve been brought back (to shore) by a boat across the water to cheers and back pats. I’ve never felt that feeling before — it’s just fabulous.
