‘Ottawa’ Gatineau Police Use Taser on knife-wielding Man
Gatineau police report they had to use a Taser after being called to tackle a disturbed, knife-wielding man in Hull Friday morning.
The incident happened at the intersection of Des Allumettieres and Saint Redempteur at 10:42 a.m. The 52-year-old man, who is known to police from other incidents, was stabbing the knife toward officers, who were trying to evade him, when the decision was made to use the Taser.
He was taken to hospital, examined and returned to police custody. He was charged with assault with a weapon and offences related to outstanding warrants. He is expected to be transferred to a mental health facility.
